Coronavirus is also known as Covid-19 is an illness caused by a virus. The coronavirus is a new type of strain of virus that has not been identified in humans previously. The virus that is responsible for causing Covid-19 is from the family of viruses called Coronaviridae

Covid-19 is considered a worldwide pandemic, which has immensely affected the whole world. The pandemic following the Covid-19 has greatly altered our lives never to be the same again.  

Coronavirus is an illness initially resembling the common cold and then have an increasing effect becoming a lung-damaging disease, taking millions of lives around the globe. 

Symptoms of Coronavirus 

Some symptoms of coronavirus are stated below: 

Most Common Symptoms 

  • Cough 
  • Fever 
  • Fatigue or Tiredness 
  • Loss of Taste 
  • Loss of Smell 

Less Common Symptoms 

  • Sore Throat 
  • Diarrhoea 
  • Headache 
  • Body Pain 
  • Red or Irritated Eyes 
  • Rash on the skin 

Serious Symptoms 

  • difficulty breathing or shortness of breath 
  • loss of speech or mobility 
  • confusion 
  • chest pain 
  • Dizziness 

If you experience any of the above symptoms, should immediately contact health care personnel. Coronavirus is a highly contagious disease. So, if having doubts about the symptoms, you should quarantine yourself for the sake of others and minimizing the spread of the disease.

Prevention from any disease is very important, as it helps us to keep the illness at bay. All illnesses require a different set of prevention and precautions, here we are going to discuss preventive measures that we can take to keep ourselves safe from Coronavirus. 

Use of Mask 

Whenever you go out or in a closed, crowded place, it is advisable to ensure the use of a mask. It is a foremost preventive measure against coronavirus.

A coronavirus is a contagious disease, it only gets more dangerous with the fact that it is an air-borne disease. The virus can easily transfer and transmit through the air, so, it is fairly important to wear a mask to prevent the spread of the virus. 

Social Distancing 

Coronavirus is spread through the air or physical touch. Studies show that the Covid-19 virus is spreadable around the range of 6 feet of the infected person. It is important to distance ourselves from each other and maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from each individual. 

Physical Touch and Hygiene 

As the virus can be spread through touch. It is advised to refrain from unnecessary touching of anything in a public space.

Whenever possible we should avoid touching things that are most commonly touched by many people like the door handle of a shop, shopping cart, railing on the stairs, handles on public transport.  

Obviously, it is not possible to refrain from touching anything, in that case, we are encouraged to make the use of hand sanitisers common. Either wash your hands thoroughly when water is available to wash out the germs or you can use hand sanitisers to kill out the germs possibly present on the surface of your hands. 

Avoid Crowded Spaces 

Avoiding crowded spaces can become the best prevention against the disease. When we go to a crowded place, firstly there is less ventilation, which means the air is probably concentrated and is not purified. 

Secondly, in a public space, we are not aware of the difficulty or problems the other person is facing. Maybe the guy sitting next to you in a cinema is infected but suffering only from the common symptoms (considering it as a common cold) and being in transferable range, you also get infected. 

Introduction of Vaccine 

A vaccine is an innovation in the world of science that is used to prevent the life-threatening effect of any disease.

Similarly, the vaccine for Covid-19 has been recently launched. It provides prevention and the disease and even if infected, the disease itself would not be much harmful to the vaccinated individual. 

Vaccinations offer the human body to be aware of the impending threat and prepare the body to fight for survival making it familiar beforehand with the enemies it might have to fight in form of a virus.
