These days our laptops are almost a part of us, we take them everywhere and use them to do just about everything, our work, our play, even our socialising can all be accomplished with this thin metal box! So, considering how much we use our laptops, why not think of some fun things we can do to spruce them up and get the most out of them? Here are some ideas:
Decorate It – Let’s face it, most laptops look pretty much the same, they are pretty much all some shade of silver, and maybe a black or white one can be spotted now and then- Dullsville! Come up with some fun visuals that say something about who you are, or features your hobby or passion in words and pictures, then have some funky custom laptop stickers made! Slap those on and your personal machine goes from being a boring old clone to a unique fashion statement!
Airplane Mode Charge Up – When you put your laptop into airplane mode it turns off Wi-Fi and Bluetooth so your saucy little machine doesn’t talk dirty to the airplane’s onboard computer and cause a crash. Because of this, the battery gets a bit of a break which allows it to focus on charging up instead of running all those noisy features! Charging up while in airplane mode will shave off as much as 30 minutes of time from the process, which can mean a lot when you need to have enough battery power ready to entertain you all through that long flight!
Talk To Your Machine – Most laptops these days come with a nifty little AI person living inside them just waiting to help you find that song title you’ve been trying to remember or make reservations for you at that trendy restaurant you want to go try, or pretty much whatever you want! Windows systems call her Cortana, and Apple computers call her Siri, and she’s pretty much the same thing, but don’t make her feel bad by telling her that! If you get tired of typing, all you have to do is press the Windows key + C to wake up Cortana, or Command + Space bar to summon Siri. Once you have your real imaginary friend there with you, just tell her what you want to do and she will make it happen while you kick back without having to lift a finger!
Home Entertainment Centre – OK, so this will need a few peripherals like a screen, a digital projector, and a couple of nice speakers to really make it sing, but the main thing to understand is that your laptop is already a TV, a radio, a music player, a movie projector, and a game console all in one little box! If you are actually living in today’s modern world by now you will have downloaded more movies, music, and games than a mall has (we won’t tell!). Cue up the Saturday Night Movie on your laptop, then invite a few friends over to watch in the comfort of your own home theatre!
The popcorn is up to you to make, or you can just have Cortana/Siri order some delivered to your door!
