If you want to ensure that your online and offline banking processes continue without any interruptions, then it is necessary to have your Aadhaar card linked to your bank account or accounts. All you have to do in order to avail this benefit is link your registered mobile number to your Aadhaar card. To be able to receive any subsidy or other benefits under section 7 of Aadhaar Act of 2016 (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidiaries, Benefits and Services), it is mandatory to provide your Aadhaar number to your banking service provider. Linking your Aadhaar card to your registered mobile number will not only help you streamline your banking needs but also serve as a legitimate KYC document (Know Your Customer) that will help you open a new bank account as well.According to the UIDAI i.e., The Unique Identification Authority of India, Aadhaar card holders can easily verify their Aadhaar bank link status by logging in directly to the UIDAI official website.

How to Check UIDAI Aadhaar Status Online

The government of India has made it quick and hassle-free for Aadhaar cardholders to check their bank link status in the comfort of their homes. Here are the quick steps you must follow to check your Aadhaar bank link status online:

  1. Visit the direct website for UIDAI Aadhaar status
  2. Here you must enter your 12-digit Aadhaar card number
  3. Next, it will ask you to enter the security code and then an OTP will be generated
  4. You will receive this OTP on your mobile number that is Aadhaar registered, and you need to enter this OTP on the website page to complete verification. Click on ‘Enter OTP’ to type the received OTP.
  5. Finally, click on the submit button. You will now be able to see your Aadhaar bank link status on the screen.

Recently, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation i.e., EPFO has also made Aadhaar seeding a mandatory requirement for all employees holding EPF accounts, from June 2021. It is a must for Employers to also get the EPF account holders’ UAN-Aadhaar verified. It would be crucial for employees to adhere to this requirement and get their Aadhaar bank link status at the earliest as failing to do so could result in termination of their EPF contribution from their respective employers. Essentially, they wouldn’t be allowed to complete their ECR i.e., Electronic Challan cum Return process that EPF account holders need for UAN-Aadhaar verification.

In Conclusion:

Linking your mobile number to the UIDAI Aadhaar is a necessity that will not only help you continue your banking smoothly but also streamline your other processes in the future, like aligning your EPF accounts and serving as a KYC document for customers who are opening a new bank account. In lieu of this requirement, the government has gone ahead and made it all the simpler to check Aadhaar bank link status by creating a direct link in the UIDAI’s official website to offer checking bank link status facility for every Aadhaar cardholder.
