Camping is a very adventurous and fun activity. However, it is important to be prepared and keep safety at the top of your list when going camping because many things can happen unexpectedly, including accidents or injuries.

Below are eight essential items that someone should carry with them if they are on a camping trip.

Flashlights

Flashlights can be very useful, especially if you end up staying out overnight and the sun goes down. Never go camping without a flashlight or two because you never know when it will come in handy.

Flashlights also help light the path ahead of you, making it safe to walk around even at night time. Always make sure You carry extra batteries too.

Extra water and Water Bottles

It is always important to drink enough water when on a camping trip, especially if it’s hot outside. Make sure that you bring some extra bottles of water with you if the ones you brought run out. It’s essential to keep your body hydrated when you are out in nature for extended periods.

Don’t take the risk of drinking water from unknown sources, it can cause digestive problems like diarrhea, gastritis, or amoebiasis. Hence, it’s best to bring your own water to ensure your health and safety, especially if there aren’t available convenient stores on your route to the camping site to buy water from.

First Aid kit

It is always a good idea to carry extra first aid supplies whenever you go out camping. Accidents can happen at any time, and if they do, make sure to have your first aid kit handy. Wounds can be deep, so they must be properly bandaged up as soon as possible. If you don’t have one yet get one and traveling in your 4×4 get one of the best 4×4 First-Aid kit for your next adventure.

If someone has an allergy or some shock, you should have the proper medication to help them. Painkillers and muscle relaxers can also come in handy. Don’t forget to bring your prescription medicines too, such as antihypertensive or antidiabetic medications. In this way, you won’t need to worry about buying those medicines in a local pharmacy, which could be kilometres away from the camp area.

It is also convenient to carry along a microwavable heating pad to reduce pain if you happen to have back pain or injury while performing camp activities. If you have a camper with a portable microwave oven, you can then simply place the pad in a clean, dry plate and increase the heat setting gradually for two minutes.

Extra food and Snacks.

Make sure you have a bag of snacks with you when going camping for several days so that if there is a delay getting back home, you won’t run out of anything to eat. Being hungry when you are camping and not having anything to eat can be frustrating.

You can always stock up on plenty of meals before you go camping, so you have enough time to enjoy yourself. It is also good to have any cooking or hot water appliances with you if you get hungry or want some tea or coffee during the night.

Tent

You should bring your tent with you on any camping trip because it helps shelter and protects you from the elements, which can be extremely dangerous if left exposed for too long.

Catskill game farm camping offers great tents which will give you a once in a lifetime experience. It is always better to be safe than sorry when staying out in nature overnight, as anything can happen. It is also important to carry extra blankets in case it gets extremely cold.

Insect repellent

Much like having extra water, it is important to bring insect repellent with you whenever you go out camping. Bugs can be annoying and dangerous; some bugs carry viruses which are very harmful to the body.

Please keep away from the bugs by using a good quality repellent that will keep them away for sure. It is very important to wear sunscreen wherever you go out camping because it protects your skin from harsh UV rays, which can cause sunburns and also skin cancer.

Whistle

When you’re out in nature, it can get very quiet sometimes, so if you were suddenly to face an emergency where you need help or assistance, a whistle is essential to have.

If you find yourself lost or hurt, a whistle can be a great way to call for help from other campers. A whistle will produce loud sounds which are noticeable so that anyone around hears it.

When trekking or hiking in natural places you prefer to camp; you can create a secret passcode using your whistle. You can attach a whistle into a lanyard so you can wear it around your neck. In this way, you can easily access and use it as needed. Whistles are widely sold online and in camp supply stores.

Firestarter and Lighter

Ensure you always carry a lighter when going camping because fire can keep you warm and safe in certain weather conditions. A fire starter is also useful to have when starting a campfire, and it helps get the fire going quickly and easily. Not all the safety tips are packable. For example, a personal emergency alert app comes in handy.

If you end up having an emergency where you need help, flash the light from your flashlight near where you are camping or near the road. This fire will make it easier for someone to spot you and help you out.

Camping is a fun activity, but safety should always come first. Always make sure you are prepared by carrying these essential items with you on your next camping trip.
